Pines to Peaks Loop is a short and easy hike located in Bald Mountain Scenic Area near Boulder, CO. This hike brings you to the summit of Bald Mountain. This lollipop loop is 1.1 miles long and gains 203 feet of elevation.
This hike starts from the Bald Mountain Scenic Area Parking Lot. There are portable toilets available for use at the trailhead. Begin hiking south on Pines to Peaks Loop. You will be hiking uphill amongst pine trees. Within the first 0.1 miles of the trail, you will encounter some picnic tables. After you have hiked 0.1 miles, you will come to a junction. Go left here to take the loop counterclockwise. The trail continues to go uphill here. You will enjoy periodic views of the surrounding mountains. There are also multiple benches along the trail that are perfect for taking a break while taking in the views.
After 0.3 miles, you will reach the summit of Bald Mountain. There is a bench at the top. From the summit, you will be able to see Green Mountain, Bear Peak, South Boulder Peak, and various other mountains. Continue downhill on Pines to Peaks Loop. After 0.1 miles, the trail turns and heads north as you walk amongst trees. After another 0.2 miles the trail turns to the east and continues downhill. The trail will run parallel to the road here. After 0.2 miles, you will reach a junction. Turn left onto Pines to Peaks Loop. Follow the trail downhill past the picnic tables This will lead you back to the Bald Mountain Scenic Area Parking Lot.
Bald Mountain Scenic Area is open for hiking year-round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
