A little further west than Kitsilano Beach, and therefore a bit less crowded, Jericho Park is still a popular respite from the city of Vancouver. The wide beaches are the main draw, especially during the summer months, but the park boasts many amenities and activities that can be done even when it's not terribly warm out. In addition to the tennis and baseball fields, there are reservable picnic areas, restrooms, a concession stand, and wildlife viewing at a small pond. The pond is an ideal location for bird-watching, and plein aire painters will often set up easels along its shores. The park is connected to the nearby parks (Kitsilano and Spanish Banks) through a trail that can be used by walkers, runners, and bikers. Parking is available and paid by the hour.
