Cabin Fever + Millipede Mountain Bike Trails

If you are staying at the Homesite Creek Campground or you are in Halfmoon Bay on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, make sure you visit the Cabin Fever Trail; if you are on a bike, you can link it up to Millipede and make a great ride out of it. 

Cabin Fever was built for the for the BC Bike Race in 2010. The trail was built well with lots of stability and solid construction. The trail follows Homesite Creek and offers great views of its many waterfalls. Now popular with hikers and bikers, Cabin Fever is a two-way trail, but when climbed and linked to Millipede, it creates a fun, picturesque, 5-kilometer loop.

From the trailhead you will start through rolling, mossy terrain before seeing the first of many waterfalls and crossings. The trail zigzags up the hill and has some great rest points with benches on which to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The climb remains fairly steady with a few grueling sections and tops out at an old service road. Turn left and ride to the bridge to connect with Millipede. A continuation of the service road to the top of Millipede races through overgrown bushes along a ridge before dipping back into the forest and around more streams. Fast, mossy sections lead out to a clearcut where the trail winds in and out along the edge and back through the woods. This is a gravity fed trail that is tight through the woods with some great technical sections. The trail ends at the forest road, and a quick ride back to the trailhead completes the loop. There are many other trails in the area, so you can go for the day or stay at the campground and make it a weekend.
