Rampart Creek Hostel

The Hostel on Rampart Creek is strategically located just 12 kilometers north of the Saskatchewan River Crossing Area and at the north end of Banff National Park along the Icefields Parkway. The border of Jasper National Park also lies just 33 kilometers north. This well-maintained hostel features a common building where there is potable water, a small kitchen, fridges, and a reading nook. Travelers can find helpful information and resources about the area via dozens of books and maps. There is also Wi-Fi and electricity available during the evening hours here. Toilets are simple vaults, but are very clean.

There are two comfortrable bunk houses, each housing 12 co-ed bunks separated evenly by a privacy wall for men and women. Linens are provided, and each side of the bunk house has its own electric heater. Outdoor space is quite attractive with a central fire pit complete with substantial seating. Possibly the highlight of the hostel is a wood-fired sauna sitting on the bank of Rampart Creek. There is also access to the creek nearby, and upriver the creek can be seen pouring through a slot canyon. A trail leads up a steep slope to an overlook with open views to the north and south across the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Take caution, as a short section of this trail has a bolted chain to support those ascending a rocky slope.
