Sheep Mountain Wilderness is a federally protected area in the San Gabriel Mountains within both Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County. The wilderness area is part of the San Gabriel National Monument, encompasses 44,000 acres, and is managed by the Angeles National Forest.
The area is characterized by its rugged mountainous terrain with elevations ranging from 2,400 feet. to over 10,000 feet. The area is home to a variety of plants and animals
RECREATION
Sheep Mountain Wilderness provides a variety of opportunities for recreation activities including trail running, hiking, backpacking, fishing, and camping.

PERMITS
A wilderness permit is required for entry via the East Fork Trailhead. Permits are free and available at the following locations:
