The Pacifica and Windes trails are two short and easily accessible trails adjacent to the Nature Center in Santiago Oaks Regional Park leading to a vista point with panoramic views of the park and surrounding areas.

While techincally two separate trails, there is a bit of overlap on the two trails, and it makes sense to tackle both on the same walk.

Beginning at a signed trailhead beside the park's Nature Center building, the hard packed dirt path immediately begins weaving up the hillside, gaining in elevation while opening up widening views of the other hills and trail networks in the park. A variety of birds will likely be seen flittering through the surrounding trees.

Near the approximate halfway point of the lower Windes Loop, a signed fork leads to the Pacifica Trail which begins with another short burst of uphill climbing. Near the high point of this trail, a short spur trail leads to a vista point with several viewing scopes that are signed with what can be seen through them. The peak gives the impression of being in a high distant corner of Orange County, with views extending in each direction.

From the top, continue on the loop path as it switches back, descending back toward the park's central playground and picnic area.

While hiking the trail in either direction is fine, we preferred taking the trail in a counterclockwise direction which offers expanding views across the natural area's of the park and finishes at the Nature Center.

Bathrooms and water are available at the Nature Center building area.

This hike lies within Santiago Oaks Regional Park and is subject to park entrance fee and hours - 7am to sunset. Complete up to date information can be found at https://ocparks.com/santiagooaks
