Mother's Beach is a small tucked away bay within the canals of Long Beach with conditions making it an ideal spot for families and groups with small children.
Nestled beside Marine Park, the stretch of sand that makes up Mother's Beach sits on an island within Los Alamitos Bay. As the beach doesn't face the open ocean, but instead edges a channel popular for boating, there are no waves here and the water generally remains calm. A rope marks a protected swimming and wading area, ensuring that boats and paddle craft remain a fair distance from the shore.
During the peak season, lifeguards line the sand, and beach retains a small, safe, quiet feel to it.
Beside the shore area is Marine Park which has picnic tables, a large shaded grass area, and playground. A concessions stand operates during the Summer months.
Mother's Beach is also the home to Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe racing clubs, which can sometimes be seen on the water, along with personal boats or kayaks that venture into the channel. The beach also has a public boat tie up for those coming by water.
Parking at Mother's Beach and Marine Park is in a parking lot that charges by the hour. There are modern bathroom facilities and water fountains available at the beach area.
Mother's Beach is open daily from 5am to 10pm. The paid parking lot is open from 8am to 8pm.
