Lookout Mountain + Table Mountain via PCT is a 17.3-mile route starting at Highway 74, utilizing the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) to ascend Lookout Mountain and Table Mountain. This path includes a well-maintained single-track trail with sections of dirt road and unmaintained use trails to the peaks. It presents hikers with the opportunity to traverse high mountain ridges, enjoy stunning vistas, and experience the tranquility of the backcountry. Ideal for experienced hikers, this journey offers challenging climbs and rewarding summits.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Your adventure begins on the PCT near Highway 74, heading south. The trail gently winds through chaparral-covered hills, offering views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.

As you near Lookout Mountain, look for a faint use trail leading to the summit. This short but steep path takes you to the top, where breathtaking panoramic views await—a perfect place for a rest and photos.

Continuing on the PCT, you'll aim for Table Mountain. The trek to this second peak is filled with diverse flora and fauna. At Table Mountain's summit, pause to enjoy the expansive views before descending the other side.

For a change of scenery, you'll head down Table Mountain Truck Trail, which loops back to the PCT. Then, head north on the PCT, retracing your steps back to the start, skipping the mountain peaks for a less strenuous return.
