The Elysian Valley Gateway Park is a .5-acre city park located next to the Los Angeles River in the Elysian Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park features a dirt path, small green space, picnic tables, trash cans, and a few shade trees. The park was designed and built by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and is managed by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. Friends of the Los Angeles River occasionally hold public educational programs in the park as well as river cleanup events.
The Elysian Valley Gateway Park also provides public access to the Los Angeles River Bike Path and a portion of the Los Angeles River, which has a natural streambed (no concrete) and is fed by natural springs. This area of the river is known as the Glendale Narrows and provides an important habitat for stands of willows, sycamores, and cottonwoods, as well as several species of birds.
