Between the jagged peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the Inyo Mountains lie the Alabama Hills, which are composed of rounded rocks and eroding hills with a unique appearance. Located west of Lone Pine, California, this area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
THINGS TO DO
There are a number of recreational activities available in the Alabama Hills, including scenic drives, rock climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
Movie fans will enjoy taking a self guided film tour along movie road and exploring the sets of over 300 films. Both novice and experienced photographers will enjoy the unique beauty of the Alabama Hills.
The rocks themselves are interesting, and their dramatic appearance is heightened by the impressive peaks behind them, including Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States.
