Two Bar Ridge Trail #119 is a 25.6-mile out-and-back trail traversing the eastern side of the Superstition Wilderness. This area is known for its rugged volcanic peaks, rocky canyons, and rich history, filled with mysterious legends and lore that continue to attract tourists. Situated in one of the wilderness's least-visited parts, the trail offers opportunities for solitude and adventure, making it an ideal hike for those who appreciate the Arizona landscape's rugged beauty and are prepared for a full day of strenuous activity.
The hike starts at the Two Bar Ridge Trailhead, located at the end of Forest Service Road #83. From the outset, the trail gradually ascends through a mix of chaparral and sparse woodlands. It features steep climbs up rocky and rugged terrain and crosses several canyons where the trail may be difficult to find; cairns are used to mark the path.
The trail presents a moderate challenge, with some steep sections and uneven terrain. As you gain elevation, expansive views of the Tonto Basin and the surrounding mountain ranges unfold, offering a breathtaking perspective of this unique and wild area.
TRAILHEAD ACCESS
Parking is available at the trailhead. The last section of the road to the trailhead is rough, so a vehicle with high clearance is recommended. Contact the local land management agency for current information on road conditions.
