OVERVIEW
The Rimview Trail is a scenic 10-mile loop that circles the town of Page, Arizona, offering expansive views of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, and the surrounding red rock desert. This multi-use trail is popular with both hikers and mountain bikers, featuring a mix of dirt paths, slickrock, and rolling terrain. With minimal elevation gain, it’s an accessible but rewarding route that showcases the stark beauty of the Arizona high desert.
DESCRIPTION
This route starts from the access point located off of North Lake Powell Boulevard, however, there are several access points around Page. The trail winds along the rim of the mesa, providing nearly continuous panoramic views. The route consists of packed dirt, slickrock sections, and some sandy stretches, making for a varied but generally moderate trek. Along the way, you'll see towering rock formations, deep canyons, and sweeping views of Lake Powell.

The loop provides excellent sunrise and sunset views, but there is little shade, making early morning or late evening the best times to hike, especially in summer.

FLORA AND FAUNA
Flora along the trail includes sagebrush, rabbitbrush, and desert wildflowers, while local fauna may include lizards, jackrabbits, and soaring ravens. Birdwatchers might also spot peregrine falcons or bald eagles near the cliffs.
SAFETY AND CONSIDERATIONS

  • Best hiked in fall, winter, or spring to avoid extreme heat.

  • Bring plenty of water and sun protection—there is no shade.

  • Trail is shared with mountain bikers, so be mindful of passing riders.

  • Multiple access points make it easy to customize the route if a shorter trek is preferred.

FINAL THOUGHTS
The Rimview Trail is a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty surrounding Page, offering a mix of expansive desert views, unique rock formations, and a relatively easy loop for hikers and bikers alike. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely scenic hike, a solid trail run or a fun desert ride, this loop delivers a classic Arizona red rock experience.
