Reaching Goat Rock Vista offers hikers breathtaking views of the Hot Spring Mountains, making it a must-see destination. The adventure begins at the shelter located at the end of the Gulpha Gorge Trail. From there, hikers set off on the Gulpha Gorge Trail, heading toward the campground. This initial stretch covers approximately 0.3 miles, leading hikers down a series of switchbacks to a turnoff for the Upper Dogwood Trail. As you follow the Upper Dogwood trail, it flattens out and meanders along the mountainside, providing a peaceful walking experience amid the natural beauty.

A noteworthy highlight is a turnoff that guides hikers up a series of well-constructed stairs, leading to a stunning overlook, The Goat Rock Vista. This vantage point rewards you with panoramic views of the majestic Hot Springs Mountains, making the brief detour well worth the effort. After soaking in the scenery, you can continue your journey along the trail.

From the overlook, the path ascends moderately via a lengthy switchback. Along the way, hikers will encounter a junction where it’s essential to stay to the right to avoid veering off toward a parking lot. At this stage, you’ll be within the park’s recharge area, a crucial ecosystem where rain and snow collect, seeping through the earth's cracks. This geological process is what ultimately heats the water that lead to the famous hot springs.

As the trail continues, it winds through lush woods, offering opportunities to observe the diverse flora and fauna of the park. Eventually, it intersects with the Lower Dogwood Trail, where hikers must make a sharp left turn to return toward the trailhead. Completing the loop, hikers will follow the Upper Dogwood Trail back to the starting point. This enchanting 2.5-mile trail encapsulates the beauty and tranquility of the wilderness within the National Park, providing an enriching outdoor experience for all who traverse it.
