Deer Creek State Park features a 3,000-acre reservoir and 18 miles of shoreline, and Great Horned Owl and Chokecherry campgrounds are the ideal staging points for adventures in the beautiful Heber Valley.

Between the two campgrounds, 30 full-hookup sites are available for RVs, and 23 tent sites for car campers. Chokecherry Campground features all sites for RVs, including a sewage disposal station near the park entrance station. All hookups are in Chokecherry Campground. Great Horned Owl offers primitive campsites without hookups. The amenities in the campgrounds at Deer Creek State Park are second to none, with facilities that include showers, a boat ramp, and convenient concessionaires and boat rentals via Deer Creek Island Resort. Additionally, the reservoir is served by Uinta Kiting, which offers kiteboarding lessons and Zipline Utah’s zipline tours.

Open and sparsely vegetated, campers here will have little privacy between campsites, although some sites enjoy limited shade. Conversely, wide open views of the Wasatch Mountains abound, including the striking and omnipresent Mount Timpanogos, which looms over the reservoir and campgrounds. All campsites feature picnic tables and a fire ring; Some sites with limited tree cover, the RV sites in particular, feature covered picnic cabanas to compensate for the exposure.

Note: Great Horned Owl and Chokecherry Campgrounds are open from May 15 through October 1. Deer Creek State Park day use areas are open year round from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the winter months. To reserve one of the park's large picnic shelters call 801.538.7220.
