Beauty Creek Campground

Beauty Creek Campground is one of the nearest campgrounds to Coeur d'Alene, yet it manages to maintain a rustic, secluded feeling. The campground sits on national forest land along the mouth of Beauty Creek where it drains into nearby Beauty Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene. And although it's only a few miles off the main road, the noises of the outside world are left behind in the narrow, forested draw where the camp is located.

The campground is fairly limited in its offerings. Potable water is provided by a hand-drawn pump at the campground entrance, a few vault toilets line the road that runs through camp, and each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. There are 11 campsites for car and tent camping, a limited few of which can be reserved ahead of time. The remaining sites, as well as eight walk-in tent sites, are available on a first-come, first-served basis. With the exception of the walk-in camping area, the sites are all generally well-spaced from one another and offer campers some privacy.

A short trail from the campground entrance leads down to Beauty Bay, and hikers can also continue up the forest road that runs above the campground for an access road into the terminal points of the Mineral Ridge National Recreation Trail. This trail can also be reached by walking or driving to the trailhead just down the road from the campground's entrance. A boat launch area into Lake Coeur d'Alene is also just across the street from the campground entrance.
