McGee Creek Campground is located up McGee Creek Road at an elevation of 7,600 feet. McGee Creek runs beside the campground, a scenic small stream with trout fishing opportunities. In addition, the McGee Creek Trailhead lies two miles up the road from the campground and is a gateway into the John Muir Wilderness where stunning High Sierra peaks and alpine lakes await.

The campground itself consists of 28 campsites. The sites are spread across a large meadow area. There are no trees here, but each site does have a shade pavilion structure. In addition you’ll find a picnic table, fire pit and bear locker for food storage at each campsite. No hookups are available.

McGee Creek Campground is open seasonally May through September (exact dates vary year to year). Although reservations are available (click here) they are not required.
