Deception Pass State Park has numerous beaches, none more accessible than West Beach. Access to the beach is via the park road that intersects Cranberry Lake and Deception Pass State Park Campground. Upon arriving at the beach, visitors will find a long stretch of a pebbly beach. The water's a bit cold for swimming, but when the weather's sweltering, the temperature is actually a draw. For cooler days, try swimming in the adjacent Cranberry Lake instead. The main draws to West Beach are the amazing views. The Olympic Mountains, San Juan Islands, and sometimes even Victoria can be seen along the shore. Stroll down the beach and take it all in, or stop and have a picnic at the provided tables. To the south of West Beach is a small interpretive trail that travels through sand dunes and marshland, providing a variety of educational opportunities.
