offtrail hiker and sometim backpacker. Normal hike for me is usually a steep climb up a rockfield or steep bank. We go where few people go. So we see things others don,t. Usually something like 3000 to 4000 elevation and abot 8 to 12 miles. I am not a distance hiker. Have climbed most of oregons moutains except North and Middle Sisters. Mt Theilson is prpbably the most fun to climb. sheer joy
