I've been hiking for years, but sadly, got away from it until about four years ago when I started hiking again. Guess it was (my only excuses) due to the pressures of work and family. But, I came to the realization that my time on this planet is short and getting shorter. I am returning to this sport which I loved so much when I was younger. However, it is harder now! That's why I am working out more to prepare myself for the physical demands that I am lacking without the ‘resilience of youth’ I had before.
