    Basil Newburn

    San Mateo, California

Pilot, sailor, backpacker, climber, paddler, and more. I love getting outside and sharing adventures with friends.

I grew up in the northwoods of Wisconsin and I have been in love with the outdoors for as long as I can remember. Some favorite adventures: Trekking in Patagonia; flying instruments through grey overcast to the shining sun above; backpacking the weeklong Long Range Traverse in wild Newfoundland with no marked or maintained trails; sailing 8' centerboards through 43' keelboats in Wisconsin, New York, California, and the BVI; flying offshore from southern California to Santa Catalina Island; expedition canoeing in the Boundary Waters; summiting a fourteener; cycling a weeklong journey through northern Wisconsin to the shores of Lake Superior; flying over Tokyo and the Serengeti; kayaking with dozens of migrating humpback whales off the California coast.

    About Us

We believe good things come from people spending time outside. It’s about more than standing on the mountain top. It’s about nourishment and learning. It’s about protecting what sustains us. It’s about building relationships with the outdoors and each other.
