First Landing State Park Campground is located within the northern section of First Landing State Park, and it runs along the dunes of the Chesapeake Bay and back into the woods. Each site at the campground is completely unique; some are buried within a grove of spindly oak trees, while others are surrounded by nothing but sand and shrubs. The grounds and facilities are very well-maintained and clean.

There are multiple walkways through the dunes that provide easy access to the beach located throughout the campground. Since these beaches are farther away from the main entrance, they're usually much less crowded, and if you wake up early, you'll likely have the beach to yourself for an hour or two.

The campground offers bathhouses with hot showers and flushing toilets, located in each loop. There is a coin-operated laundromat near the visitors center, along with a camp store that is open late in the summer months.

The campground has a very relaxed atmosphere, though it does share a fenced border with an active military training base. Sites along this border may be noisy, but there are plenty of sites that do not share this border. Due to the nature of this base, loud, low-flying aircraft can occasionally be heard flying late into the evening. Operations normally end around 10 p.m.
