Tucked away in the Tellico district of Tennessee's Cherokee National Forest, the Indian Boundary Recreation Area and campground is one of the most tranquil and impressive spots that you'll find in east Tennessee. Though just a sliver of the 650,000 acres that make up Tennessee's only national forest, there is very little that it lacks, from the 96-acre Indian Boundary Lake that is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views to its central location for exploring hiking trails and waterfalls.

The 87-site campground, complete with electric hookups, water, grills, picnic tables, and more, is the perfect second home as you spend days immersed in the area's activities. Within the Indian Boundary area, you'll find solitude on the 3.2-mile hiking and biking trail around Indian Boundary Lake and while kayaking in its pristine waters. Soak up some sun and enjoy family time in the beach area while floating around, swimming, or playing a game of cornhole. Cookout with friends in the picnic area and play a game of volleyball before cooling off in the lake.

Once you've settled in at camp and picked up last-minute items at the campground store, explore nearby attractions in the Indian Boundary area. Just down the road you'll find Bald River Falls and Baby Falls along the serene Tellico River. Just 2 miles from the campground is the Cherohala Skyway, a 43-mile national scenic byway that stretches from Tellico Plains in Tennessee to Robbinsville in North Carolina. If you're looking to stretch your legs, the 2.5-mile round-trip hike up to Huckleberry Knob starts near mile marker 8 and leads to breathtaking 360-degree views. Once you're finished, head back to camp, get the fire started, and wrap up the day with s'mores and laughter around the campfire.
