In the heart of Maplewood State Park's 9,250 acres sits Beers Lake, the largest lake completely surrounded by the border of the park. Famous for it's muskie fishing in the summer, the lake can see a decent amount of traffic, especially on holiday weekends when the campground sees more traffic than usual. Rainbow trout can be found in the lake, and they are managed in the park by the Department of Natural Resources. The lake has a speed limit to prevent wakes from becoming too damaging to other boaters and campers on the lake. There are many bays one can explore to get away from the main portion of the lake. This is especially handy on windy days when kayaks and canoes would get tossed around. There is a pier on the west end of the lake on the road toward the boat ramp where fisherman without a boat can place a line in the water and catch dinner. Adjacent to the pier is small swimming beach for families to gather and enjoy the summer sun.
