Lake Charles Lakefront Promenade

There is no lack of things to see or do at the Lakefront Promenade in Lake Charles, also known as Bord du Lac Drive. Located in the heart of Lake Charles, Louisiana, the Lakefront Promenade is a public waterfront park that wraps around the western shore of Lake Charles. While great for walking, the Lakefront Promenade is also ideal for cyclists following a route that begins at Bord du Lac Park, formerly known as Millennium Park.

As you make your way down the water’s edge along the well-maintained brick pathways, you’ll see all kinds of interesting sights along the way. Bord du Lac Park is the perfect place to bring your children, offering an expansive interactive playground, “Eagles Nest Tree House," rock climbing wall, and much more. There’s a small marina that connects to the promenade, allowing sailboats and other watercraft direct access to Bord du Lac Drive.

Moving farther down the promenade, you’ll see some lovely fountains and sculptures. One of the fountains is found directly behind the sizable Arcade amphitheater, which hosts free concerts, family fun days, reunions, and more. Along the waterfront, there are many benches to relax on and several places to fish off the docks. Kids will enjoy seeing all of the ducks and geese that like to frequent the park. On warmer days, kids will also enjoy a trip to the splash park, found near the Veteran’s Memorial Park toward the northern end of Bord du Lac Drive. The Veteran’s Memorial has monuments, such as an old tank and helicopter that you can get close to. There’s a 9/11 Memorial that features a slab of limestone from the Pentagon and two steel beams from the World Trade Center. The entirety of the Lakefront Promenade is aesthetically pleasing. Bicyclists, runners, fishermen, and families will love this place.
