Hidden on a quiet side street, Lualualei Beach Park is a smaller and secluded beach along Oahu's western Waianae Coast.
The beach here is more of a rocky shoreline, which may be why the park is frequently empty. Fishermen, however, have little difficulty casting their lines from the rocks.
Additionally, the beach features a sandy bottom for those who make the difficult rocky entry, although be sure to time the swell and check conditions before entering. Further down Pokai Bay Street there is a sandy opening and plenty of parking.
This entire stretch of shore is a perfect place to walk or bring a picnic, and there are many picnic tables available for use. Public restrooms and freshwater showers are also available. A popular surf site is located just offshore. If you plan on being around into the late afternoon, be sure to catch the spectacular sunset views from this west-facing coastline.
Dangerous swell and currents are possible, especially during the winter months. Check wave conditions before entering the water.
