Encompassing an impressive 2,700 acres with over 28 miles of trails, Cheyenne Mountain State Park is a year-round getaway. Situated at the base of Cheyenne Mountain and the North American Aerospace Defense Command facility, this park has everything you could want from a state park.

Trails here are well labeled and filled with flowers and amazing wildlife. There are multiple informational signs neatly distributed along the trails to inform you about them. The mild climate of Colorado Springs and the relatively low elevation of the campsites here allow them to be available year round. There are 41 day-use picnic areas that are also handicap accessible, 51 full-service campsites, and 10 basic walk-in tent sites. Some of the facilities feature full hook-ups for campers and RVs. There are coin-operated showers and laundry on site. If you’re looking for something to accommodate a group, rental facilities and an outdoor amphitheater are available. There’s also an archery range located next to the park, and if that’s not enough, the park provides a plethora of services and education programs. This is an ideal place for a day hike or as a base camp for your adventures around Colorado Springs.

The park's day-use hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. all year long, and the entrance fee is $8 dollars for the day. There is a self-serve terminal located at the park entrance, so you can get in for a sunrise hike even when the park isn't staffed. Campsites range from $41 for a full hook-up campsite to $28 for the basic campsites. Multiple sites may be reserved by calling the park office. It is recommended to book early, with the reservation window opening 6 months in advance.

The Colorado Springs area is full of outdoor adventure. Once you're finished in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, try a nearby adventure on the New Santa Fe Regional TrailGrandview TrailVindicator Valley, or Red Rock Canyon Open Space.
