Reef Campground is a cozy little coastal campground located within Fort Ross State Historic Park, that is open between April 1 and November 30 each year. The 21 campsites lie adjacent to the ocean coves near Fort Ross, extending up a narrow, redwood-lined gulch. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can accommodate vehicles up to 18 feet; there are no hookups.
Approximately half of the sites are shaded under redwood trees with the other half exposed to the elements. Potable water is sometimes available when Reef Campground is open, but it may be shut off due to drought conditions and park conservation measures, so make sure to come prepared or check with Fort Ross State Park beforehand. Vault toilets are available.
Reef Campground provides easy shoreline access to multiple coves where fishing, swimming, diving, and tide pooling opportunities abound when conditions are favorable. There are also a series of hiking trails nearby that connect the campground to the fort. Campers will enjoy nearby access to the historic Fort Ross stockade, located to the north, which can be toured during open hours (see park link above for details). To access the fort by vehicle, drive Highway 1 north for 2 miles.
Dogs are allowed in the campground, but they must remain on leash.
