Sugar Loaf Summit is a short and fairly easy hike that is easily accessible and offers fantastic views out across western Sedona. Iconic red rock formations including Capitol Butte and Coffeepot Rock are also seen from the trail. Note that parking is quite limited and it can be a challenge to find a spot. Arriving early in the morning or later in the evening increases the odds.

After parking at the Sugarloaf Trailhead, begin heading north on the Tea Cup Trail. The path passes along the western side of Sugar Loaf Summit and through some desert terrain including some Prickly Pear Cacti.

Upon reaching a signed junction you’ll turn right onto the Sugar Loaf Loop Trail (remaining on the Tea Cup Trail would take you to the base of Coffee Pot Rock, another great hike). Before long you’ll take another right on the Summit Trail.

Follow the Summit Trail as it gains a bit of elevation climbing up the north side of Sugar Loaf Summit. Before long at all you’ll have reached the top. Enjoy the views and return the way you came back to the parking lot.
