Merrell Trail

Conveniently located off of 131 in Rockford, Michigan, the Merrell Trail is described as West Michigan's best "flow trail." Built and maintained by the West Michigan Mountain Biking Alliance, it packs a lot of fun into a small plot of land. Riders can expect generally smooth rolling trails with occasional man-made obstacles, each of which has a by-pass trail for those still developing their skills. The highlight to the trail is winding down the rollercoaster like trails, Phaser and Siren, down into the valley. Each of these trails has been designed with large banked turns and whoops to allow fast riding bikers to maintain their speed and defy gravity, if only for a short time. Wood plank bridges or large flat rocks allow riders across several small creeks. As with all Western Michigan trails, this trail can be quite sandy during dry spells. However, this also makes it drain quickly following rain. The trail system is directional by the day of the week for both riders and pedestrians. 

The smooth trails also make this a very popular place for trail runners. In winter, it also makes a great place for snowshoeing if snow accumulation allows.
