Diamond Lake’s South Shore Picnic Area is a popular day use spot located on (you guessed it) the southern shore of the lake. Visitors will enjoy a beautiful view across Diamond Lake with 8,330’ Mt. Bailey visible to the west. A $5 fee is charged for use of the area. An annual federal pass is also accepted here.
Perhaps the most popular feature of the South Shore Day Use Area is the boat ramp. Diamond Lake is a fisherman’s paradise and you’ll find many using the ramp at South Shore to get out on the water.
South Shore features 26 single family picnic tables and 10 group picnic table areas, most of which are located lakeside with a fantastic view. Most also have a small fire pit with grill or BBQ grill.
A large pavilion is also found at South Shore. This covered picnic area is perfect for gatherings. There is a sink in the pavilion, many picnic tables, and BBQs just outside. The pavilion may be reserved in advance by clicking here.
You’ll also find a children’s play area here, as well as horseshoe pits, volleyball, restrooms with flushing toilets and potable water. A paved lakeside hiking/biking pathway also runs through the day use area and is great for a short (or long) walk.
