Mount Herman, Raspberry Mountain, and Chautauqua Mountain Loop is a strenuous hike located near Monument, Colorado. This hike brings you to the top of 3 mountains. This loop is 9.5 miles long and gains 2,605 feet of elevation gain.
This hike starts from Mount Herman Trailhead. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking uphill on Mount Herman Trail. After 0.1 miles, turn right to stay on Mount Herman Trail. Continue walking uphill amongst coniferous trees. After 0.7 miles, the trail will get even steeper. Another 0.3 miles of uphill trekking will bring you to the summit of Mount Herman. This is the highest point of the loop. From the summit, you will be able to see Pikes Peak as well as the vast plains to the east. head downhill, continuing on Mount Herman Trail. After 0.3 miles, you will reach a junction. Go left onto Raspberry Mountain Trail. You will come to another junction in 0.1 miles. Go right here. After 0.6 miles, you will reach the summit of Raspberry Mountain.
Head north on Raspberry Mountain Trail. You will be traveling downhill. There are many switchbacks on the trail as you head down the slope. After 1.3 miles, you will come to a junction. Turn left onto Monument Trail. You will be hiking gradually uphill for 0.6 miles before reaching a junction and turning right. Another junction will be reached after 0.3 miles. Turn right here to take Chautauqua Mountain Trail. The trail hers is mostly uphill but has some ups and downs. 1.2 miles on this trail will bring you to the summit of Chautauqua Mountain. Turn around and retrace your steps to return to the junction with Monument Trail. Turn right to continue on the loop. Hike gradually uphill for 1.6 miles to reach a junction. Go left to stay on Monument Trail. The trail gets a bit steeper here. After 0.6 miles, you will come to a junction. Go straight to stay on Monument Trail. The trail heads downhill to Limbaugh Canyon Trailhead here. From here, walk down the road to return to Mount Herman Trailhead.
Mount Herman, Raspberry Mountain, and Chautauqua Mountain Loop is open for hiking year-round. There are no associated fees to hike here.
