Columbine and Spring Creek Trail

Columbine and Spring Creek Trail is a short and steep hike located in North Cheyenne Cañon Park near Colorado Springs. This trail explores a small area of the park. This out and back hike is 2.8 miles long and gains 967 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from Pullout 24 off of North Cheyenne Canyon Road. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking west on Columbine Trail. The trail is dirt for the whole hike. Columbine Trail will be running parallel to the road. You will be hiking on a steep uphill trail. After 0.2 miles, you will come to a junction and turn right to stay on Columbine Trail. Here, the trail begins to switch back up a sope. You will have great views up and down North Cheyenne Canyon. You will still be trekking uphill. Hike amongst small trees and shrubs for 0.5 miles to reach a junction. Go right here onto Spring Creek Trail.

Spring Creek Trail continues to switch back uphill, but is a bit more gradual at first. After 0.2 miles, the trail begins to get steeper. Follow the switchbacks up the slope towards Gold Camp Road.  After 0.4 miles, you will reach the highest point of the trail. The Spring Creek Trail heads downhill briefly. After 0.1 miles, you will reach Gold Camp Road. This is the end of the trail. Turn around and retrace your steps to return to the trailhead.

North Cheyenne Cañon Park is open 5am-9pm from November through April. It is open from 5am-10pm from May through October. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash. It is possible to encounter mountain bikers on this trail. Columbine and Spring Creek Trail is a quick and easy way to explore North Cheyenne Cañon Park.
