Pea Vine Trail

The Pea Vine Trail meanders through Waterfront Park between the charming Bavarian-styled village of Leavenworth, and the Wenatchee River. The trail is a pleasant and easy walk for anyone to enjoy, and the river is also easily accessible.

There is a central parking area within the park, but the Pea Vine Trail actually begins from the junction of 13th Street and Commercial. Starting here lets one enjoy the entire trail.

As you hike you’ll have good views down to the Wenatchee River a bit below. A few interpretive signs inform walkers of the ecology and history of the area.

There are several side trails, but the main trail continues generally southwest through the park. You’ll eventually descend to river level and come to a perfect spot for accessing the water. This is Barn Beach - a great place to have a swim or just sit and enjoy the river.

Continuing along you’ll pass near the central parking area, then come to a grassy area with a restroom. The trail is lined with park benches just after this, a scene reminiscent of something you may find in a large city park.

The Pea Vine Trail then comes to an end just before the footbridge across the Blackbird Island Channel. From here you can either return the way you came, continue across the bridge onto the island for more hiking, or walk right into downtown Leavenworth via Commercial Street.
