Nosh Nosh Wahtum is a scenic small lake located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. While not quite as spectacular as some of it’s nearby neighbors such as Jade Lake or Tuck and Robin Lakes, Nosh Nosh Wahtum is easily accessible via a 5 mile out and back day hike.
The trailhead for the hike is at the end of the long gravel Cle Elum Valley Road (FR 4330). Park at the Cathedral Pass or Tucquala Meadows Trailhead, then hop on the Cathedral Pass Trail (#1345).
You’ll cross over the Cle Elum River via footbridge, then enter the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
The trail remains beneath a lovely forest as you climb steadily uphill. Eventually you’ll come to a junction with the Trail Creek Trail, stay right.
Shortly after the junction you’ll arrive at Nosh Nosh Wahtum. This picturesque small lake is a lovely spot. The shallow waters along the eastern shore are inviting for a swim.
You can find a few different campsites scattered around the lake, and there is a designated horse camp on the far northern side of the lake. There is also a toilet.
After enjoying the day (or night) at Nosh Nosh Wahtum return the way you came, or explore further into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness via nearby Cathedral Pass and the Pacific Crest Trail..
