The Arboretum Loop Trail is an easy walking path that traces the perimeter of the Yakima Area Arboretum, passing by collections of trees and features of the well maintained area.

While the length of the perimeter trail is one mile in distance, the route can easily be amended by meandering off onto any of the numerous small foot paths within the arboretum, or by joining with the Noel Pathway or Yakima Greenway trails, both of which run by the rear portion of the arboretum grounds.

Throughout the grounds are several signed collections of trees, grouped by family, including beech, oak, larch, maple and evergreen. There are also bird watching areas, a scenic pond and fountain, and multiple shaded gazebos, benches and lawns across the grounds. In addition to the trails and grounds, the arboretum hosts, a visitor center, programs, classes, tours and seedling sales.

The area as a whole is very peaceful and great for those looking for a tree-lined walk or those with families looking for an easy, flat walk or lawns to throw out a blanket and have a picnic on.

Dogs are permitted on leash, and the arboretum grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk with the interpretive center open Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.

More information about the arboretum's programs can be found here.
