The Pah Rah Trail is a single track dirt trail beginning in an unassuming neighborhood and heading up into the hills east of Sparks.

Leaving from a small dead end road nestled between homes, hikers can head out on the single track into the sage and otherwise empty vast hills. The terrain remains dirt and rocky, and there is no shade along the hike, and with the trail heading up a slight climb for over a mile before the first fork, other than a few dogwalkers near the trailhead you likely won't find too many other people out here.

There is no signage, no landmarks, and really no points of interest. A few forks offer access to the trails higher up in the hills which are frequented by mountain bikers, as well as to the network of dirt roads the climb deep into the interior of the open space.

While it's near the edge of the city, hikers would benefit from having some type of navigation, as the trails out here are few and far between and sometimes hard to distinguish, so a wrong turn might lead pretty far off your path. However cel service does tend to cover the area.

There are no amenities of any type along the trail and no shade. Hikers should plan their hike accordingly. Street parking is available near the trailhead.
