The Steamboat Mountain Pioneer Trail (also known as the Town Trail) is an enjoyable hiking and mountain biking trail that runs along the base of the foothills above town and offers great views. The trail was built in 2014 on Pioneer Day (it only took one day to construct the whole trail!). Today it can be enjoyed by starting from Lion Boulevard, or the trailhead off South Paradise Road just across from the cemetery.

The trailhead off South Paradise Road offers free parking and has an informative sign telling hikers to keep an eye open for Desert Tortoise!

The trail is fairly straightforward. You’ll have great views of the surrounding peaks including Steamboat Mountain (The West Temple). The trail does pass close to many homes, so be sure to stay on trail.

The end of the trail features a short loop, then rejoins the original path which you’ll follow back to the trailhead.
