Stevens Arch is an amazing sight, perhaps one of the best arches in all of southern Utah. Its remote location at the junction of Stevens Canyon and the Escalante River is difficult to access, meaning it’ll take some effort to see this spectacular sight, but also that you’ll likely have it all to yourself.

The eye of Stevens Arch is 220 feet across and 160 feet tall. The arch looms over the Escalante River below, and is visible from multiple points.

To access the arch the most straightforward route is through Coyote Gulch. Starting at the Fortymile Ridge Trailhead and descending through the Crack-in-the-Wall route provides the quickest access (but also misses most of spectacular Coyote Gulch).

At the end of Coyote Gulch you’ll reach the Escalante River. Head upstream and you’ll soon have an amazing view of Stevens Arch. There is even a route where you can scramble up a talus slope, then follow the ledges above that will lead up and inside the arch. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy the view of this amazing arch that few people get to see.
