If you’re looking for a unique winter experience, you may want to explore the groomed trails on Dillon Reservoir. When the reservoir freezes over and the ice reaches an appropriate thickness, the town of Dillon grooms a few different multi-use trails on the ice.

These “Lake Loops” are open to non-motorized use including walking, cross country skiing, skate skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking. The loops are groomed daily.

There are several different groomed trails, and you can create your own adventure depending how far you wish to walk or ski.

The trails are marked with bamboo sticks every so often, this makes navigating much easier especially if the weather is poor.

Lastly, there is a community ice skating rink on Dillion Reservoir near the start of the groomed trails that is open and free for the public to use.
