Sulphur Spring and Soda Spring are located right next to each other in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The springs are well worth the short stroll to check out. Note that these are not hot springs for soaking. If you want to soak check out nearby Hippie Hot Springs, Old Town Hot Springs, or Strawberry Park Hot Springs.

Sulphur Spring can be seen bubbling near the Yampa River. Native Americans believed this spring had special curative powers. Early settlers found their horses would crave this water and the minerals found here. The Crawfords (the first family to settle in Steamboat) even frequently bathed here.

Soda Spring is located nearby but sadly it’s flow was disrupted due to the construction of Highway 40. It used to be a popular drinking spring as it had high carbonation and no sulphur taste. Soda Spring Lemonade was a common drink. While the spring may not be here, you can still visit the historic gazebo.
