Mesquite Bay is a small cove within the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge with water access, a paved walking path, shaded benches and a fishing dock.
Located inside the town of Lake Havasu City, Mesquite Bay offers river goers a spot to launch non motorized watercraft into a calm bay, an easy walking path with covered benches where its possible to view the birds who nest and hunt in the surrounding reeds, and can fish off of a dock stretching into the bay. The peaceful area tends to remain pretty quiet and calm.
There are two small parking lots offering access to different parts of the bay. A few interpretive signs line the parking area and walking paths. The paddlecraft boat launch ramp is located at the southern parking lot, while the fishing dock and a dirt launch point to the river can be found at the northern parking lot.
Birdwatchers can head to Mesquite Bay to view a variety of migratory and native birds, which can include Yellow warblers, Red-tailed hawk, Hermit thrush, and Western Tanager. Fish found in Mesquite Bay include Largemouth and Striped Bass, Channel Catfish, Redear Sunfish, Bluegill and Black Crappie.
Mesquite Bay offers a calm area along the banks of Lake Havasu and the Colorado River where birdwatchers and fishermen can access a variety of species, and other visitors can head on a peaceful walk along the edge of the waterway with the scenic mountains rising from the banks on the California side of the river.
