Sunrise Peak is a wonderfully maintained trail in Peoria, Arizona.  This hike is 4.5 miles but there are plenty of combinations where hikers can make the trail longer or shorter.  This trail provides beautiful vistas of the surrounding areas.  Hikers will start out from the trailhead on a concrete path that turns into a gravel path.  Hikers will have to keep an eye of for the right turn to head up the mountain.  If hikers have passed the elementary school, then they have gone to far.

Hikers will continue uphill and one they reach the junction with the Saguaro Family Loop they will follow that trail to the north.  This will keep hikers on the northside of the mountain and the trail will be relatively easy for this portion.  Soon enough however, hikers will climb a series of switch backs to get to the Ridgeline.  For hikers looking to shorten their trek they will be able to continue along the Saguaro Family trail that will loop them back to the trailhead.

For hikers looking to enjoy more distance they will head to the East at the intersection of the Sunset Ridgeline trail.  This will allow hikers to have wonderful views in all directions are they follow the trail.  The Sunrise Ridgeline will take them around the East Peak and hikers can summit if they so choose.

Once hikers wrap around the East Peak, they continue to follow the Ridgeline Trail back to the Sunrise Loop trail where they will then return the trailhead.  This trail is great for all levels of hikers as they can make the trail as long or as short as they want.  As the name suggests, it is a great trail to view the sunrise, but also the sunset.  Hikers should take advantage of the urban trail to get outside within the city limits!
