The Domeland Wilderness is a federally designated wilderness area located within the Sierra Nevada, at the southern end of the Kern Plateau. The region consists of 133,720 acres, mostly within Sequoia National Forest, and is managed by both the United States Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

This wilderness is home to a variety of ecosystems, which contributes to its biodiversity. Near the South Fork Kern River, cottonwood trees and meadows provide important riparian habitats. In contrast, the rest of the region features arid, sparsely vegetated, rugged terrain with unique domelike granite rock formations.

OUTDOOR RECREATION
Trail running, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and fishing are popular activities within Domeland Wilderness.

PERMITS
Permits are not required for day use or overnight trips.

NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS

WHEN TO VISIT
This wilderness is accessible year-round, however, the mild temperatures of spring and fall make those seasons the most popular.
