Spring Hill North, sometimes called Upper Spring Hill, Campground is a no-fee primitive dispersed camping area along the Kern River above Lake Isabella.

There is very little here in the way of improvements. The area is a Forest Service built cluster of dirt roads with several unnumbered flats and pull outs where visitors can set up camp at. The Kern River flows immediately beside the camp, and the scenic lower Sierra mountains compose a picturesque background.

The town of Kernville is 9.3 miles south, where food, gas and gear sales/rentals are located. The campground itself has no water, tables or improvements other than outhouses which are brought to the campground during the summer months.

Spring Hill North is strictly first come, first served with no reservations available. It is also open for camping year round.

Campers are permitted to set up camp anywhere, provided they remain at least 25 feet from the river's edge. There are also only a couple areas with shade in the campground.

A sandy dirt road runs through the campground, which is generally passable by smaller cars except after wet weather. Mid size RVs may be able to navigate the road, though parking spaces large enough are limited.
