Brockway Summit to Mt. Rose Summit / Tahoe Meadows is a 20-mile point-to-point segment of the 165+ mile Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT). This section features incredible panoramic views and a climb to the highest point on the TRT. The TRT is a multi-use, non-motorized trail open to hikers, trail runners, backpackers, bikers, and equestrians for most of its length (mountain bikes and equestrians are prohibited from certain sections of the trail).
Leaving Brockway Summit, this section begins with a short climb. As the trail winds through aromatic pine forests, green hillsides, and open meadows, you'll be rewarded with scenic vistas and views of Lake Tahoe as well as the Sierra Nevada and Carson mountain ranges.
Upon entering Nevada, the trail winds through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest before entering the Mt. Rose Wilderness. The TRT reaches its high point at Relay Peak, which is 10,338 feet above sea level in the Mt. Rose Wilderness.
Eventually the TRT exits the Wilderness and continues towards the parking lot at the Mt. Rose Trailhead.
