Spooner Summit to Kingsbury South Connector is a 19-mile segment of the 165+ mile Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT). This segment runs from Spooner Summit South to Kingsbury North and is located east of Carson City, Nevada. Through this section of the trail, one is treated to panoramic views of Lake Tahoe, ancient aspen groves, and forests of fir trees. The TRT is a multi-use, non-motorized trail open to hikers, trail runners, backpackers, bikers, and equestrians for most of its length (mountain bikes and equestrians are prohibited from certain sections of the trail).
This section is defined by impressive trees, panoramic views, and a wide variety of plants and animals. Starting from Spooner Summit the trail follows a series of switchbacks through forests and across meadows. It ascends the side of South Camp Peak to reach a high point. From here, the trail descends through dense wooded areas towards Kingsbury before ascending towards Genoa Peak with sweeping views across the length of Lake Tahoe.
