Cottonwood Campground is a backcountry campground located within the Grand Canyon in the boundary of Grand Canyon National Park. This remote campground is only accessible via foot and is located 7 miles from the north rim via the North Kaibab Trail. The campground is situated halfway along the North Kaibab Trail and is a perfect destination for anyone planning to hike the entire trail.
The North Rim attracts only 10% of the Grand Canyon's annual visitors, resulting in a serene and solitary environment. Cottonwood Campground is an ideal location for anyone looking to escape the crowded trails and camps near the more popular south rim without losing out on the incredible views and awe-inspiring hiking of the Grand Canyon.
The campground is open year round, however, the ranger station is closed from November to April. Additionally, facilities on the North Rim North Rim (which includes a lodge, store and gas station) close on October 15, making it much more challenging to access the camp from the North Rim.
WATER:
Potable water is available at the campground, however, the spigot may be turned off during certain times of year. Make sure to contact the ranger station and get all updated and necessary information before your trip!
