Cottonwood Campground is one of three campgrounds located within Willard Bay State Park. Willard Bay is located right off Interstate 15, slightly north of Ogden, Utah. Fishing, boating and swimming are all extremely popular activities here. There are two marina areas (north and south) within the state park with the northern area offering more amenities.

Willard Bay Reservoir is a 9,900 acre body of freshwater that rests atop the Great Salt Lake flood plain. It is separated from the Great Salt Lake by an earth filled dike that was constructed to store water from the Ogden and Weber rivers so that it could be used for irrigation, drinking water, and recreation. The area opened to the public as a state park in 1966.

Cottonwood Campground offers nice campsites within the North Marina area of the park. All sites have full hookups available, but unfortunately none offer a view of the reservoir. Sites are also a little lacking in privacy.

There are 38 total campsites at Cottonwood Campground. This includes 3 cabins. The cabins feature bunk beds, refrigerator, microwave and futon and can be rented in advance.

The remaining campsites are suitable for trailers and RVs and offer full hookups. Each campsite also has a picnic table with shade shelter, a fire pit, and a BBQ grill. Within the campground are restrooms and showers. Additionally an RV dump station is located nearby.

If you won’t be needing hookups, be sure to check out next-door Willow Creek Campground which offers some very nice campsites that are a bit more private. Some even have fantastic reservoir views.
