Sand Hollow State Park is one of Utah’s newest state parks as well as one of its most popular. The park is quite large at 20,000 acres. The majority of this acreage consists of sand dunes away from the lake that are open for OHV use. The lake itself is just over 1,300 acres in size.
The current daily entrance fee for Sand Hollow State Park is $15 (Utah resident) or $20 (non resident). The price may feel a bit steep, especially if only planning on a short visit, but the beautiful crystal clear waters of Sand Hollow Lake contrasted against the orange sandy shores and a backdrop of the colorful mountains make it worth it.
The lake is perfect for those looking to fish, boat or swim. Of course it can be enjoyed from the shore too, with tons of space to picnic along the beautiful sandy shores. The park offers rentals including kayaks and paddle boards, and you can take scuba diving lessons here during the summer months!
Aa mentioned above, the majority of the state park’s acreage is designed to be explored via off highway vehicle. Sand Mountain is an OHV enthusiast’s dream. The park also offers ATV and UTV rentals if you’d like to try it out but don’t own a rig.
Lastly, the park has two campgrounds and a primitive camping area. There are also hotel and rental accommodations nearby.
