Chippewa Campground

The Chippewa Campground is a National Forest Service campground located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest near Medford, Wisconsin. The campground is on the eastern side the Chequamegon Waters Flowage which is known for its bass fishing.

The Chippewa Campground has four paved loops and has a total of 78 campsites. The 18 sites on the Bass Loop have 50-amp electric service. The Hardwoods loop has 11 non-electric double occupancy sites, two of these sites are pull-throughs. The sites on the Bass Loop and Hardwoods Beaver reservable at www.recreation.gov. The Beaver Loop and the Rustic Loop are non-electric sites and are available on a first-come first-served basis. Three of the campground loops (Bass, Beaver, and Hardwoods) have hot showers and flush toilets. The Rustic loop has vault toilets and drinking water and is available for year-round camping. Be aware that the access road to the campground is not plowed during the winter months. Four of the campsites are wheel chair accessible. The Chippewa Campground sites are generally heavily wooded and each site has a picnic table and a fire ring.

The campground has a boat landing and a dump station. There is a playground area located between the Beaver Loop and the Bass Loop. There are two swimming beaches at the campground. The northern beach does not appear to be used very often and the waters of the flowage can be quite murky. Trailhead access for the Perkinstown ATV Trail is located in the campground. Access to hiking on the Ice Age Trail is a few miles away.
